At the end of the 1940s, Fred Perry was approached by Tibby Wegner, a former Austrian footballer, with the idea of marketing a sweat band bearing the Fred Perry name.
The business quickly developed, with the first polo shirt launched in 1952 to great success.
The famous Fred Perry Laurel Wreath became associated with many of the finest tennis players and tournaments at the time and was soon adopted into British street culture where a strong relationship remains to this day.
